About the department
The Department of Biology and Agricultural Specialties is one of the first to be established at the Institute. Since 2017, undergraduates have been studying for a degree in Biology. The education of students, the training of undergraduates and the choice of research topics are based on knowledge and research projects, European experience, jointly developed by the department through international relations. The permanent foreign partners of the Department of Biology and Agricultural Specialties are: the Nukis branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University, the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after H. A. Yassawi, the Pedagogical Institute named afterAjiniyaza Nukis. The results of the research work of teachers and students are used in the educational process in the form of electronic books and laboratory practical exercises and in the training of scientific and pedagogical staff, undergraduates.
When conducting practical work, the department provides for the formation of educational, legal, aesthetic, environmental and political views among students. In the direction of implementing the Development Strategy, the department has set tasks to solve the problems of modernization of innovative technologies in order to ensure industrial, socio-economic and environmental safety of the population.
The Department of Biology and Agricultural Specialties has special classrooms and laboratories for mastering the professional curriculum of higher education and improving the quality of education using innovative pedagogical technologies in the educational process. Educational and research laboratories are organized and equipped with modern technical facilities for conducting classes using the latest innovative technologies and effective transmission of video materials, as well as high-quality practical work with students. The laboratories of zoology, botany, cell biology, and microbiology are used for the benefit of students.
The department has laboratories "Agronomy" and "Agrochemistry", equipped with a new modern model. In order to provide high-quality educational services and train competitive professional specialists, since the 2017 academic year, the Department has been preparing bachelors in new specialties in the field of agriculture.: "Agronomy", "plant protection and quarantine". The department employs 15 professors and teachers who are proficient in their professional activities, including 6 candidates of sciences, 9 masters teachers.
K. Zh. Seitbayev is also the holder of the state grant "The Best University teacher" for the 2016-2017 academic year. The scientific potential of the department is 50.7%.Due to the gradual transition to English-language education, a multilingual learning system has been introduced in the 50:30:20 specialties and groups with English as the language of instruction have been opened. In this regard, within the framework of external and internal academic mobility programs, contacts have been established under contracts with domestic and foreign universities. In particular, the Nukis State Agrarian University, the Nukis State Pedagogical University.
The teachers of the department improved their qualifications and exchanged experiences in foreign educational institutions. In 2017, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Head of the Department, Seitbaev K. Zh. at the Department of "Cell Biology" at St. Petersburg University of St. Petersburg and at the Institute for Scientific Research of Russian Vegetable Growing in Moscow, and in 2018, senior lecturers Khodzhaniyazova Zh.T., Kozhamzharova B. S., Zhanatleu B., Alzhenbayeva K. A., lecturer He graduated from the Republican Phytosanitary training courses in the laboratory. In 2019, Seitbaev K. Zh. He conducted a course of lectures at the Nukis State Agrarian University of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the following topics: "technology of sugar beet cultivation in Zhambyl region", "technology of vegetable crops cultivation in protected soil structures".
Domestic universities are working on an internal academic mobility program with the Taraz State Pedagogical Institute, the Department of Biology of the M. H. Dulati Taraz State University. In order to increase students' competence in the professional training system, the Department of Biology and Agricultural Specialties, together with employers, is working with urban schools No. 46, 45, 47 and schools in the Talas district in order to strengthen cooperation between schools. To strengthen cooperation with production facilities, work is being carried out on the basis of joint contracts with the Zhambyl Branch of the Kazakh Agriculture Research Institute, KAZ Agro Ex Laboratory, and the Southwestern Scientific Research Center for Animal Husbandry and Crop Production.
In accordance with the professional development plan for teaching staff, the teachers of the department took advanced training courses at the National Center for Advanced Training of Teachers of Pedagogical Specialties "Orleu" at the University of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty, as well as for accelerated language training of teaching staff in order to develop the English language. In 2017, the specialty 5b060700 was biology, in 2019, the specialty 6m011300 biology passed the specialized accreditation for quality assurance in education.
The Department of Biology conducts research in two directions. For the competition of grants for research projects from 2017 to 2018 .The grant was awarded to a scientific project on the topic "Conducting biological and economic research, documenting and classifying reservoirs of the reserve fund, loose, at risk of fish death, as reservoirs for commercial fishing, amateur (sports) fishing, commercial fish farming on the lake, fish farming in a mesh enclosure." Seitbaev Agrobilim.kz 13.08.2019 The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a seminar on "Technology of sugar beet cultivation in Zhambyl region" in the field of "crop production", which is the winner of the state program to increase access to education implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan (the program operator is NPP Atameken).
Also, on 11.09.2019, a seminar on "technology of cultivation of vegetable crops on protected soil structures" was held in Zhambyl region. A circle "Zhas biologist" is organized at the department. The circle works in one direction. Improvement, orientation of students towards independent research work.
