Working Visit to the Republic of Türkiye: A New Stage of International Partnership

From 23 to 26 July 2026, the delegation of Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University (hereinafter referred to as Sherkhan Murtaza University) paid an official working visit to the Republic of Türkiye. During the visit, a series of high-level meetings was held with leading universities, research institutions, and international partners. The visit was aimed at expanding international cooperation, strengthening research collaboration, and developing joint academic and scientific initiatives.
As part of the visit, the delegation held official meetings with the leadership of Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul Nişantaşı University, Biruni University, the TÖMER Center of Ankara University, as well as representatives of TÜBİTAK, ULUG Network, and members of Türkiye’s academic and research community.
During the meeting with Istanbul Technical University, both sides discussed cooperation in engineering, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, shared use of research laboratories, academic mobility, researcher exchange, and the implementation of international research projects. The parties agreed to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding and develop a roadmap for its implementation.
Discussions with Istanbul Nişantaşı University focused on expanding academic mobility, promoting faculty and student exchanges, developing joint and dual-degree academic programs, conducting collaborative research, and participating in international grant-funded projects.

At Biruni University, the delegation explored opportunities for cooperation in education, healthcare, social sciences, and other academic disciplines. Particular attention was given to internship opportunities within the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme in Management in Healthcare. The universities also agreed to initiate the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding.
During the meeting at the TÖMER Center of Ankara University, the parties discussed the gradual introduction of TÖMER-based Turkish language courses at Sherkhan Murtaza University, faculty professional development, the exchange of teaching and learning resources, and the implementation of an internationally recognized Turkish language certification system.
Separate meetings with representatives of TÜBİTAK and ULUG Network focused on the development of joint international research projects, participation in competitive grant programmes, research internships, and expanding scientific cooperation among universities and research institutions across the Turkic world.
The delegation also presented the University’s strategic international development initiatives, including the AgroScienceHub research and innovation platform, the establishment of the Institute of Sherkhan Studies and Turkic Research, the expansion of international scientific partnerships, and initiatives aimed at attracting international students. These initiatives received considerable interest from Turkish partners.

Sherkhan Murtaza University also participated in the Study in Kazakhstan – EKET FAIRS University Preference Fair 2026, where it showcased its academic programmes, research potential, and international opportunities to prospective students, parents, and representatives of educational institutions in Türkiye. The exhibition also provided an important platform for establishing new partnerships and promoting the University internationally.
One of the highlights of the visit was an interview with the international media platform Telenews. During the interview, the University’s research capacity, international cooperation strategy, efforts to attract international students, participation in global university rankings, and future development priorities were presented to an international audience.
Outcomes of the Visit
The working visit to the Republic of Türkiye marked an important milestone in strengthening the international engagement of Sherkhan Murtaza University. The meetings resulted in significant agreements on expanding academic mobility, implementing joint educational programmes, developing international research projects, participating in international grant initiatives, and building long-term partnerships with Turkish universities and research organizations.
Work is currently underway to finalize and sign Memoranda of Understanding, develop implementation roadmaps, and launch the joint initiatives agreed upon during the visit.
