SHERKHAN MURTAZA UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES A NEW PHASE OF SCIENTIFIC AND INNOVATION COOPERATION WITH ISTANBUL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

On 25 July 2026, as part of the “Study in Kazakhstan – EKET FAIRS University Preference Fair 2026” international education exhibition held in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, the delegation of Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University held a series of official meetings with leading Turkish universities. One of these was a meeting with the leadership of Istanbul Technical University (ITU), one of the world’s leading engineering and technical universities.

The meeting focused on establishing a strategic partnership in the fields of engineering education, scientific research, innovation, and technological development. Both parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in implementing international research projects, enhancing engineering and technical education programmes, and strengthening academic and scientific cooperation.

During the discussions, the parties explored opportunities for developing joint and dual-degree programmes, expanding academic exchange for faculty members and researchers, establishing joint research laboratories, participating in international grant programmes, publishing research in high-impact international journals, and implementing collaborative projects in the areas of artificial intelligence, digital technologies, sustainable development, and engineering innovation.

Istanbul Technical University is internationally recognized as one of the world's leading research-intensive technical universities. Establishing cooperation with such a prestigious institution will strengthen the research capacity of Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University, expand its participation in international research projects, and enhance its competitiveness in the global academic community.

The delegation of Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University included Gulnur Bolatbekovna Issabekova, Advisor to the President for Science and International Cooperation; Kundyz Meirkhanovna Sikhayeva, Head of the Human Resources and Document Management Department; and Olzhas Sarzhayev, PhD, Lecturer at the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature.
The outcomes of the meeting provide a strong foundation for further expanding Kazakhstan–Türkiye cooperation in science, engineering education, innovation, and the training of highly qualified professionals.
